LEARN CPR
The chance of a bystander initiating CPR on an unresponsive person in Canada is low, and this could be the result of many factors. Some believe it is because of apprehensions with mouth-to-mouth breathing on a stranger, others attribute it to lack of education. Our goal is to teach CPR in an accessible way so that training isn't exclusive to those who can afford a certified course, and to dissuade bystanders from thinking that mouth-to-mouth is always required.
PUSH is a free workshop, with instruction and hands-on practice given by medical students from Dalhousie University. It is a one-hour session that focuses on compression-only CPR technique, using the model of "Check, Call, Compress" We emphasize the importance of recognizing the signs of a respiratory or cardiac arrest, calling for help, and to push hard and fast.
